England - Yorkshire to Peak District

As we started along the trail we passed Longshaw Lodge that was built in the early 1800s. The Duke of Rutland once lived here in what was once an elegant aristocratic country house. The Longshaw Moors were his hunting grounds. It later became a military hospital during the war years then a guest house. Longshaw Lodge remains private accommodation but the rest of the estate is open for the public.
